Year 3 Stonehenge Class enjoyed a fantastic educational visit to the STEAM Museum in Swindon along with Year 4 on Wednesday 6th May.
As part of their history learning, the children explored the fascinating evolution of the railways and discovered how steam power transformed travel, industry, and everyday life in Britain. They learnt about the development of the Great Western Railway, examined historic locomotives, and compared transport from the past with the modern railways we use today.
Through interactive exhibits and hands-on experiences, the children gained a deeper understanding of how engineering and innovation changed the world during the Industrial Revolution. It was wonderful to see their curiosity, enthusiasm, and thoughtful questioning throughout the day. We particularly enjoyed seeing the children be transformed into historical characters through dressing up. Fatima made as splendid Isambard Kingdom Brunel and we learnt he always wore his top hat because he was short and so wanted people to think he was much taller!
We were incredibly proud of the excellent behaviour and positive attitudes shown by all the children, who represented the school brilliantly. A memorable day of learning beyond the classroom. Below are some of the quotes from our children:
